Synopsis

Discover the exciting world of Augmented Reality (AR) in this beginner-friendly workshop! Using Unity and Vuforia, participants will learn how to create an AR mobile application where pointing a mobile device at a printed image will reveal interactive 3D objects.

This hands-on session covers AR fundamentals, project setup, Vuforia image tracking, and mobile deployment.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a fully functional AR experience on their mobile devices. Perfect for beginners looking to dive into AR development with real world applications!

About the Trainer

Mohamed Faizal, Creative Director, VizioFly Pte Ltd

Faizal a polymath who possesses the ability to conceptualize, film, develop software and mobile applications. He has crafted Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality applications for blue-chip clients such as 3M, Google, IMDA, Changi Airport Group, Discovery Channel and Ministry of Home Affairs. As a team, he had recently completed metaverse solutions for Nanyang Technological University’s Open House, and Inchcape which allows users to connect and communicate globally.

Having been in the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality arena for the past 9 years, he is keenly aware of the key importance and troubleshooting techniques which are beneficial in developing software applications and 360 videos that involve new medium.

VizioFly has received award for 360-degree live steaming of National Day Parade on 2018 and recently awarded as a finalist in Marketing - Interactive Markies Award 2022.

Faizal understands the balance between being technologically creative as well as the day to day demands of business challenges. Thus, he remains grounded to develop systems that are also practical and productive business wise.

Software Requirement:

  • Unity 2022 LTS version

  • Microsoft Visual Studio (Download & Install with Unity)

  • Android Studio (For Android devices)

  • XCode (For iOS devices)


Hardware Requirement:

  • Laptop with network connection

  • Data cable to connect to mobile device

Is programming skills needed?
Not necessarily, but you will need someone in the team who does. A hackathon team can consist of (not limited to) a Presenter, a Designer and a Programmer. You can contribute in other areas of the project as well.
